The Naval officer in charge of signals has indicated that the Bocagrande entrance buoys will be in their proper position today (15th January).
It is still advisable to exercise caution if using this entrance.

Over the last months, December 2010 to January 2011, the 2 buoys marking the Bocagrande small craft entrance have been found to be out of position. The local Coast Guard are aware of this, so we expect things to be fixed very soon.
Meanwhile, be very cautious entering the channel, especially if the buoy positions conflict significantly with the waypoints you have been given.
The main ship channel at Boca Chica is well maintained and provides a secure entering option.
Our thanks to John Halley, Dockmaster at Club Nautico marina, Cartagena, for sending us this information.
