Toronto to the Mediterranean
Published 16 years ago, updated 5 years ago
Hi, we have a searunner 40 tri and wish to cruise the Med. Currently in Toronto and would like your thoughts in terms of winds and comfort on either going direct via the Azores, or down the east coast then up and across.

Mick,
I do not know your type of tri, so cannot advise on a suitable ocean route. If it is a seaworthy vessel, the direct route via the Azores (in early summer) would be the best, but, as I am sure you are aware, one needs to be very careful when planning an ocean passage in a trimaran, so only you can be the best judge.
As to routing information, I hope you have a copy of the latest edition of my World Cruising Routes as it deals in detail with various transatlantic routes.
Regards,
Jimmy Cornell
