Timor Leste: Visiting Pante Macassar (Oe-cusse)
A report on a visit to the little known separated enclave of Timor Leste.

This little enclave is going through a MAJOR infrastructure upgrade and the place is really interesting!! There is little in the way of amenities for cruisers, but the local government is incredibly welcoming. We were given, quite literally, VIP treatment and were toured around the entire region by various officials. Totally worth a stop!
There was one guy that asked us about paperwork, but we told him we had cleared out in Dili and he had no further issues…
All the anchorages are open roadsteads, but EXCELLENT holding in pure white sand. The afternoon thermals can kick up quite a bit — we saw close to 30 knots, but the holding is absolutely awesome so had no issues. The winds always die down after 4:30 pm or so and is totally tranquil at night. We anchored right off the beach at 09° 11.8764′ S, 124° 22.1556′ E. There is a small bay by the tiny port, but it is so far from town that it can’t really be recommended.
