The latest on Ports/ Marinas in this area Published June 2008
Duquesa has some committee formed to change its bad image. The local council have got involved, they intend to clean up the port area, ……………. whatever that means (news taken from local free Spanish paper). They are going to make it the “jewel in the crown” it is meant to be.
Estepona has now reinstated a travel lift. What information I have, is it is operated by the fishing port officials. To date, I have only seen the local trawlers on the hard standing, but now the season of the pink gin sailor is upon us, maybe a few more private craft will appear for their once in a blue moon lift out !!! Nothing else has changed in Estepona, not really worth a visit. Fuel strike and fishing men’s blockade ongoing this week, ……. 13th June 2008.
Sotogrande … The Irish bar at the traffic entrance to the marina has improved no end. Decent food, good prices, and free wi-fi internet, .. no password required. Pontoons clean and tidy, but apartment building in progress still, the constant noise of building works grinds you down.

I have to be in Estepona for three years and am about to leave. It is a polluted run-down harbour with very greedy management. Quality of local Spanish services and equipment is very poor. Only suitable for an emergency stop but not for fuel.
