Panama to Victoria, B.C.
Published 17 years ago, updated 5 years ago
We are currently in Bonaire and heading west for Panama over the next few weeks. From there we plan to head for the Galapagos Islands. In May we plan to take our 40′ sailboat north to Victoria and understand that we would have to sail west due to the prevailing winds. What would be the fastest route north apart from motoring?
This is not an easy route at any time of year.
If you sail to Galapagos in May you need to take into account the new hurricane season starting off the coast of Mexico, etc in June, so your safest bet is to sail from Galapagos to Hawaii and thence to BC.
I deal with those two routes in my World Cruising Routes – if you don’t have it, a new edition is due in March.
