Panama, Linton Bay: Dinghy and Outboard Theft – August 2019
This cruisers’ hardware was stolen while they were sitting in the lit cockpit. A search the next day retrieved the dinghy and after offering a reward to the local community, so was the outboard.

The crew and their dog were in the lighted cockpit when their unlocked in-the-water 11FT dinghy with 15HP Yamaha outboard was stolen. A swimmer cut multiple lines that secured the dinghy in its lifting harness. A report was made to the police and coast guard. A search the next morning located the dinghy, minus the outboard engine.
CSSN UPDATE: August 22, 2019 – Owners have informed CSSN that the police were not at all helpful in recovering the outboard, so they offered a reward for its return via the local community. The outboard is now back in their possession.
