DOCKAGE
The winds howl through here. Every day has been a gale as Marina Papagayo is very much exposed to trade winds which blow mainly from the East. The marina’s double-wide slips are 30-35 degrees misaligned to the wind which makes docking a spectator sport, especially if the marina were filled to capacity. As it is now there are plenty of empty double wide slips to pick from with wide channels to position the vessel. We highly suggest chafe gear and sturdy spring lines to minimize the effect of the surge. That said, it is a pleasant marina with first-class accommodations and nice hosts.
Fuel dock hours 0600-1700, VHF 23A
Portable pump out carts are available. Water is potable.

We are a sailing catamaran, Permanently Temporary, headed to Washington state from Key West, FL. We always check noonsite before we go to any anchorage or marina for reviews from other cruisers and were going to bypass this marina.
However, we are so glad we stopped here. The harbormaster Dan is extremely helpful and friendly. And the dockhands that helped tie us up were experienced and very capable, helping us tie up in the 60 ft slip that we have all to ourselves without any catamaran surcharges.
This place is fantastic. Clean water in the marina and all the services are top notch. The restaurant, The Dive Bar, is the best. The manager Lewis is great, always making sure you have everything you want and that it’s the way you wanted it. His staff of waiters, bartenders, and the chef, are a 10 in our book. We have planned our week around their Happy Hour menu and look forward to the nightly Mojitos that are really, really good.
This place is very cruiser friendly and we have decided to stay for a month.
