Morocco, Tangier: Everything’s right about Tanga Bay Marina
David and Kris of sy Taipan were delighted to spend time in the new marina in Tangier, so much so that they are looking forward to a return visit and have written a glowing report of the marina.

There is always a degree of apprehension when visiting a new port or marina but relief and delight when it turns out to be as good as the new Tangier Bay Marina turned out to be.
Docking
We have just spent 5 nights in the new Tanga Bay Marina. The welcome was extraordinary with 3 men to catch our lines.
There is a big fuel dock just before the arrival pontoon (see drawing below). The arrival pontoon is around to the left and has nice big cleats but it is higher than normal docks so fenders need to be raised.
Marina Facilities
The bathrooms although new have a few design issues but nothing more than many marina bathrooms! The only downside is that the marina is Med mooring and it might be tight when it’s full but at the moment there were only 9 yachts and a few power boats there and there are over 200 berths available (pictured below). We got a hammerhead so we were happy. The water on the docks is portable and although fuel is cheap we were told it is not as cheap as Gibraltar. I have a ubiquity bullet high gain antenna and was able to receive good internet onboard. The marina has several good restaurants and a patisserie along its upstairs waterfront.
The new town is to the east as you leave the marina precinct and the Medina Kasbar is to the right with a number of entrances. We found good English was widely spoken, especially the dock staff. Taxis are cheap and we will definitely be going back, we thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience.
Clearance
The office conducts arrival and berthing details and the Customs and Immigration office is adjacent. All the facilities are new. Arrival formalities took approximately half an hour. To clear out you go to the arrival pontoon and finalize formalities. This took 10 minutes and there are no charges for clearing in or out.
We loved it and we will be going back.
