Check in at customs as you come off the jetty (you will see a sign over a door at the warehouse). Next check in with the port authority in the portacabin at the gate. Turn left up to the dirt road to the block works and you will find a white refrigerated container. In here is immigration. A new building for all three is proposed for the pierhead but dates are uncertain. When leaving you only need to go to customs. If you arrive or leave on a Saturday or Sunday you will face an overtime fee of EC$110.
Leave a very big dog-legged space at the pier for the ferry, small container ships and a sand barge which are maneuvered into place by a tug and especially needs a lot of room. (Sand is Montserrat’s only export). If you do not leave enough space you will be told to move. If you don’t move you will be hit. I anchored to the north of the fishing boats in 10 meters a comfortable distance from the cliff.
Good diesel engineers are reported, electronics nil.
You are 1.5 NM from petrol and diesel.
The town is very spread out, the center is 30 minutes good walk from the harbor, half of which is up a steep hill. On the way, you will pass a very helpful Tourist Information.
In town on the right-hand side, you will see the public library where Wifi is free and you can use their machines, also free, from 0930 to 1630 Monday to Friday, 0930 to 1230 Saturday. If your laptop battery is up to it you will get a good signal outside at any time.
There are a few supermarkets where you will get essentials, but this is no place to provision.
