INSIGHTS: How to Use the Trip Planning Feature on Windy

South African sailor Robin Lavery is constantly amazed by the number of sailors he meets that are unaware of the Distance and Planning Feature on the Windy app. So he decided to put together a short video on how to use this feature and its benefits.

Published 3 years ago

Are you using the PLANNING feature on WINDY? Do you know how to use Windy.com? Robin says he has met many sailors who use the Windy app but don’t know about the distance and planning feature.

In the video Robin demonstrates how to use this feature on the Windy app and how he plans sailing passages using this forecasting model. When it comes to planning offshore sailing passages, nothing matters more than the weather. Robin says he has been using this weather forecasting app for many years and finds it fairly accurate.

While Windy.com is a subscription service, all the information Robin mentions is on the free version.

For those who want to know how to use the distance and planning feature on Windy or just to find out how Robin and his family plan their sailing trips, this informative video will help guide you through some details that you may not be aware of.

Note:  the planning feature is only available on the Desktop version of the App and only on the ECMF Weather Model.
