Information on Tascoast Radio

Here is some information for your website that might assist yachts in New Zealand or elsewhere considering sailing to or from Australia.
The Royal Yacht Club of Tasmania through Tascoast Radio operates a twice-daily VHF and HF radio asked for yachts cruising local waters and, particularly during winter months, yachts cruising to New Zealand, the east coast of Australia and the SW Pacific. Mostly 4483 kHz is used although other frequencies are available.
Tascoast Radio plays a pivotal part in the Sydney to Hobart Race communications, has done the Port Vila to Mackay Race HF comms and will be covering the fleet sailing in the Melbourne to Osaka Race starting 25th March 2007. You would have heard us recently on 6516 kHz for the Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race.
Tascoast Radio is doing some upgrades and that will assist its operators and the yachting public and hopes to have an expanded service for yachts travelling the Tasman Sea operational by April 2007.
More information can be found on the “Club’s website” HTTP:// www.ryct.org.au under Tascoast Radio.
