Fiji to Marshalls Passage Planning
Published 11 years ago, updated 5 years ago
Since we sent in the article about spending South Pacific cyclone season in the Marshalls, we’ve met quite a few boats who are interested in heading this way. Several people have asked about timing for heading north from Fiji and what to expect weather-wise.
In general, there’s not a lot of information available to help people with passage planning decisions in this equatorial area. Before we sailed up there last year we did a lot of research to try and understand the weather systems and get an idea of what to expect. I think this helped us to make better decisions.
We’ve put together some notes and considerations based on our research and observations which might be useful to others.
