This comprehensive guide to these high latitude islands will be invaluable to anyone planning to cruise these northern waters.
Although it professes not to cover all ports and possible anchorages, I doubt it leaves much out. Although the plans and chartlets are not in colour, they are clear and easy to use and include Lat/Long, scale and depths. Harbour plans also show sites of useful buildings, such as chandlers, yacht clubs, sailmakers as well as harbour offices, fuel berths and notable landmarks.
Each of the three sections starts with an overview of the country, giving an outline of the topography, history, climate, language and economy. This is followed by general information on travel (to/from & around), formalities, communications, yachting supplies and services. It then covers cruising information in detail (charts, radio, lights, weather forecasts, currents and tides). Each country is then divided, either by coast (east/west etc) or island, and details of each harbour, port or anchorage in that area is covered. It then gives information on safety/security, approach, berthing facilities, and, where appropriate, a plan.
Correction supplements are available at www.imray.com and further details of all the RCC books is on www.rccpf.org.uk
