The last week in Port Ghalib we have some 4 problems with the validity of the sail permits and visa.
Changing Entry Rules in Egypt (Red Sea Coast)
Egyptian Authorities have changed rules about clearance for Yachts in the Red Sea. Visa by the arrival in Egypt will have a validity of one month. The sail permit, only to obtain by the arrival in Port Ghalib and Taba Height are connected on the validity of this visa and valid for one month.
Yachts coming from the South are advised to avoid paying the costs of approx. 250 USD for a one month visa and permit in Hurghada, and check-in in Port Ghalib as the first Port of Entry. One month permit 30 USD for yachts up to 18 Meter LOA, visa 15 USD. Transferring costs and Port Clearance 40 USD. Total for the yacht and 2 person 100 USD.
Yachts wanting to stay longer in Egypt can arrange an extension only in Hurghada and need an agent:
Fantasia Shipping: Costs 2-month permit extension 150 USD incl. 1 visa Extension. Costs more visa extensions 20 USD pp.
Felix Maritime Agency: Costs 2 months extension, permit yachts less as 18 Meter LOA, 60 USD + 28 USD Custom Fee, + 40 USD Agency fee, Total 128 USD. 2 month Visa extension 10 USD per passport.
See agent details on noonsite here.
