The 111 Around Hispaniola Regatta, more than 1,300 NM around the Dominican Republic and Haiti, is going to be non-stop this year.
The non-stop record is a once in a lifetime sailing experience and, maybe, the big one for the Caribbean.
Between 30th November 2012 and 28th February 2013, sailors can decide the day, the route and the crew. Boats sail from the sponsor’s marina around the island.
Puerto Bahia Marina in Samana, Casa de Campo Marina in Romana, Club Nautico Santo Domingo in Boca Chica, Marina Hotel Salinas in Bani, Port Morgan in Isle Vache, Club Nautico Montecristi in Monticristi, Ocean World in Puerto Plata and Cap Cana Marina in Bavaro are the better marinas on the island.
Mr. Tito Borrell, chairman of the 360 Non-Stop Challenge, has announced big prizes, as well as GPS and AIS coverage of the route. The Dominican Navy and US Coast Guard will provide security.
