Andamans Visit 2012
Published 13 years ago, updated 6 years ago
We have just left Port Blair in the Andaman Islands:
- First, the formalities are awful, complicated, very long (2 days to enter, one or more to leave). And be careful if you have to pick up or drop a crew member. I advise writing a letter for when you will clear in, with all details about the change in the crew list, not only to immigration but to customs. Customs is the most terrible, we advise them of the future crew list change, but when we cleared out, they had forgotten and they spoke about penalty and jail….(despite that we had done a letter to immigration…). And they tried to have a whisky bottle….
- Secondly, in the islands, the coral is now white after a sudden elevation of sea temperature of 3°C at the end of last spring. And as a result, to have good snorkelling, it is necessary to transit by a dive tour who knows the good remaining spots.
- But to be more positive, the anchorage on the East of Chatham island is good (mud, sheltered from anywhere), the boat boy is efficient, and I recommend this taxi driver: VIJAY taxi Service, cell phone 9933261913.
Good sailing to everybody
