By Christmas, Sandra and David Clayton are a thousand miles from land in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean and not expecting guests. And, never having entertained a whale before, his visit is something of a learning experience. Although if truth be told the whale is the one in control.

Only a year before, the Claytons had escaped the life of work, pension contributions and commuting, and sailed away on their 40ft yacht Voyager. This book charts their journey across the Atlantic, from Europe to the Caribbean. Sandra describes the breathtaking sights they saw, the enchanting places they visited, the colorful characters they met and the challenging situations they got involved in.

This is the third book in the Voyager chronicles. Sandra’s first book, Dolphins Under My Bed, describes their passage from chilly England to a warm Mediterranean. Her second, Turtles In Our Wake, follows them to some of its loveliest islands.

Now, with the same wry humour and eye for detail, Sandra takes her readers along with them on their biggest adventure yet. It begins with the Atlantic Islands – Madeira, the Canaries, and Cape Verde – follows their 2,800-mile Atlantic crossing to the Caribbean, and culminates at the shores of America.

Initially a reluctant sailor, Sandra Clayton fell in love with sailing and the sea, and the urge to write it all down became irresistible. Writing has been her pastime or job for most of her life. Before her three travelogues, she wrote an award-winning radio play for the BBC. She and her husband cruise full-time from spring until autumn and ski all winter in the USA.
