A Good Port of Call on Mexico’s Pacific Coast

Published 12 years ago, updated 6 years ago

Marina Puerto Los Cabos lies just 14nm from Cabo San Lucas, on Mexico’s Pacific coast at the very tip of Bahia California.

The marina is nearly full now, and development continues. Docks are modern concrete with double fingers, electric and water, plus there is still one dock with no electricity available at a lower cost. Marina staff is super friendly and helpful, day or night, and everyone speaks at least a bit of English, and the office staff is fluent. The landscaping is beautiful and well maintained, with sculptures and art sprinkled throughout. The Container restaurant, next to the marina office, has live music on Friday evenings and Saturday afternoons, all year round. Cleaning, waxing and basic maintenance services are available at your slip, the shipyard has a large travelift and can handle most everything else, and a fuel dock is right next to it. The small town of San Jose Del Cabo is only a mile away and has decent shopping and restaurants. A luxury hotel is being built near the marina entrance, on the east side of the channel, and is supposed to be completed in November.

If you are flying in or out, this marina is much closer to the airport, which is just 10 minutes by taxi.

I used an agent that the marina office recommended for immigration and customs, and had all my paperwork and tourist card back as promised, just 4 hours later.

As the marina is nearly full, and likely will be by next November, they recommend reservations if you expect to visit. Call on VHF 22a when you arrive (24 hours), and they will direct to a slip and meet you there to catch your lines.
