Description:

Matagorda is one of the oldest cities in Texas. It lies at the mouth of the Colorado River, which is the river that cut the Grand Canyon more than 1600 kms (1000 miles) away.

The city of Matagorda has a remarkably small population – barely 500 citizens. The surrounding area, including Matagorda Bay and Matagorda Peninsula (both to the west), are great cruising grounds rife with anchorages along the Intracoastal Waterway (ICW).
