Where is Tobermory?

One of the most popular and iconic harbours on the Isle of Mull and a very convenient stop, whether cruising north, to explore the Small Isles or the Hebrides, or turning south to Iona.

Tobermory was built as a fishing port in the late 18th century and is now the main town on Mull. It is one of the most iconic and popular harbours in northern Scotland with picture-postcard scenery including the brightly painted buildings along the main street to the pier and the high woodland-fringed hills surrounding the bay.

Cruiser Highlights for Tobermory:

The town has a good variety of shops and accommodation options and is the administrative centre for Mull. Several great restaurants, fishmonger, bakery, pubs and occasionally live music.  The harbour is always busy with fishing boats, yachts and the ferry to and from Kilchoan.

The Isles of Mull and Iona have become premier destinations for wildlife watching in the last few years. Thousands of people are attracted to the islands in the hope of catching a glimpse of the rare and unusual Golden and White-tailed Eagles, Otter, Corncrake and an abundance of other birds and mammals. The seas off the coast of Mull are important feeding areas for whales, dolphins and basking sharks.

Position:

56° 37.54’N, 06° 03.12’W (entrance to the harbour)
