Description:

Sant Carles de la Ràpita is situated on the beautiful Costa Dorada in Tarragona, part of the Catalonia region. It is ideally located as a cruising base being 80nm south of Barcelona and a similar distance north of Valencia. The Balearics are 100nm distant, so all within a good days sail of most boats. In addition, there is good cruising locally.

Sant Carles is located well inside the Badia dels Alfacs, a sort of large lagoon formed by the River Ebro Delta. Inside the depths shallow, but there are scores of opportunities for anchoring. Located 2nm from the open sea is Puerto de Los Alfacs a large harbour with both commercial traffic and a very large fishing fleet. This port provides a good refuge as well as a place to get serious repair work done.

Sant Carles de la Rapita is a Spanish holiday resort, but also a thriving community which remains open during the offseason. It is set against a backdrop of the Monstia mountain.

    Data Entry says:

We are currently in the Sant Carles Marina (MDL owned). We were looking for a place to stay after our 4-month sailing trip in the Med. Found a berth and we rent it via Genus Marine and Leisure, because of the price difference.

Our boat is 45ft and the price would be 7000 euro for a year, but since we rent it from an owner it is reduced to 3900 euro. We can use all the facilities, including the pool, you get a free lift per year to clean the hull.

The only thing that is not included is a free parking spot. I highly recommend this marina, the staff is really friendly, they speak English, they are very helpful and keep an eye when the weather is bad.

If possible go to the Club Nautico Marina. Not many berths, but much closer to the town centre plus helpful staff and good showers/toilets. Not much English is spoken but it didn’t matter. Mooring up was a breeze and the dockhand was excellent.
