Koumac - General Info
ALERT: France has lifted the state of emergency in New Caledonia after violent protests erupted on May 13th but a curfew is still in place each night from 10pm to 5am. Yachts are being advised to avoid the country for at least the next two months. See Security for current information.
Where is Koumac?
Koumac is the last substantial settlement on the NW coast of New Caledonia, and is a good base from which to explore the Northern Lagoon. It has the only good marina on the west coast outside of Noumea, albeit a very small one.
