We put the boat on the hard at Marina Hannibal for the winter. Exceptional friendly and helpful staff. Nice yard and somewhat protected from the bora winds. Price was reasonable, and both the marina and yard are well maintained. The only complaint was that our outboard was stolen while we were on the hard in the marina. There is a fence around the marina and a gate guard after hours.
It was a surprise that the theft occurred while the boat was in a lighted area, with the outboard undercover, and 4 m up on the boat. The marina did not take any responsibility, though they did go with me to report the theft to the police. Apparently, another cruiser also reported a theft of their outboard at the same yard.
Dear Grain – could I ask whether you had any work done at the yard in Monfalcone while wintering over? We need a few jobs done and would be interested to know your thoughts on the quality of work there.
Many thanks
Caroline
