Description:

Haifa is the major northern city of Israel. It is a 30-minute drive from Nazareth and 50 minutes from the Sea of Galilee and the Jordan River and from Jordan’s border (Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan).

Shavit Marina is a port of entry to Israel, and passport control is operated 24/7. This is a good, secure marina.

This is a busy container ship, oil, and passenger terminal, with a new container terminal, opened in 2021.

Note: The marina is now open (May 2023) following dredging operations which will resume again in October 2023. See marina listing for details.

    All the above information is correct as of January 2019. The Ministry of Interior office has moved and they are now at Sderot HaPalyam 15 in the lower downtown area of the city.
    There is a tremendous amount of boat and ship traffic near the entrance to the marina due to the construction of a new port and breakwater adjacent

    As of 2015, the actual port of entry is inside the Kishon harbor (Shavit Port) and not in the main commercial port.

    There is no need anymore to call the immigration police – the navy boat that meets any in-coming vessel alerts the authorities that will wait for you at the dedicated visitors dock at the entrance to Shavit port. Entry procedures operate 24/7 all year except Yom Kippur (Atonement day). Yom Kippur has no fixed Julian date but is normally in Sep/Oct.
