Just completed clearing out in Padang, but based the yacht in Talak Bayur. It was a protracted process, taking all day to accomplish, but doable. Customs do come to the yacht on clearing out and at your expense in the taxi and on their own timetable.
We were asked for “gratifikasi” by the harbourmaster but did not comply. Wear long pants, shoes, take a deep breath and roll with it.
Ardif still operates and we used him.
We also spent time in Cubadak Resort which was paradise, with welcoming hosts Marko and Dominique. This is a lovely resort and very accommodating to cruisers. Don’t stuff it up thinking you have a right to be there and use the facilities. This is a private resort with top class accommodation. It was a privilege to be included amongst the guests and the aperitifs and pre-booked dinner are sensational.
We also used the services of a young man Amri who spoke very good English and facilitated many things in Pedang. He can be found at the first shop on the left-hand side as you leave the wharf in Corachok.

In Padang, Western Sumatra, I met a taxi driver working for Blue Bird taxi company (inexpensive metered taxi company present in many big Indonesian cities).
Ardif is fluent in English and is now familiar with the locations of all the office’s cruisers have to visit when checking in or out.
His mobile number is 082 390 783 642.
He is a good guy to transport cruisers around. I called him and he was always there 15 minutes before pick-up time!
