Nongsa Point Marina - General Info
Description:
Nongsa Point Marina is an upmarket development located a few miles from Singapore on Batam Island. It is located about 45 minutes away from the main shopping area on the island. Prices are reported to be high.
Entrance Notes and Cautions:
Contact the marina on VHF Channel 88. The entrance is well marked with green and red pilings which are indicated on charts. However, what could be confusing for first timers is that the two channel entrances are next to each other – the left one heading to Nongsa Point Marina while the one to the right leads into the ferry port.
The Barelang bridge number 1, in Batam Indonesia, has a 34 meter clearance. Its a series of 6 bridges that shut off the whole south area of Batam, only the first one connected to the main island Batam is that high. A cruising yacht with a 23 meter mast cleared this bridge with plenty of space above.

Nongsa Point Marina across the Singapore Strait to Phuket: Advice from Bob Mott (cruiser who has transited many times):
Coming from Indonesia it’s possible to make the passage staying in Indonesian waters all the way past Singapore. Stay south of the traffic lanes and cross once past Raffles Lighthouse Island. Then head north west. Watching the tide is very important and of course using AIS to deal with all the shipping.
Pulau Pisang is a good anchorage to head for. Calm anchorage north side of Phuket in 8 metres. Give yourself room and run out plenty of chain. Reason is that Sumatra storms come in from the NW – no protection if that comes in but lots of chain for extra holding power.
We checked in at Bali. And in Nongsa Point out. Should be avoided. They charged us 600 US and 1,000,000 rupees in Nongsa. Allegedly, the papers were not filled out correctly in Bali. A Swiss couple 1300 Swiss francs. Black money, of course. The marina then charged another 1,500,000 rupees for the help. To clear into Singapore, you only need a passport and an online entry form. So better not to go to Nongsa Point. Greetings Heinz

To check into Indonesia, which we did at Nongsa Point – very efficiently done by the Marina, it is a requirement that you have a crew list stamped by Immigrassi from your last port.
Luckily before departing Malaysia I re-read the information kindly provided by Prakash at Nongsa Point.
So the paperwork I needed was :
The online VESSEL DECLARATION,
PORT CLEARANCE
CREW/passenger list with Immigration stamp
Boat registered papers
MMSI
Insurance
And the N, Q flags – (tip N flag easily created after a “craft session” – White material, blue packaging tape, and a couple of staples and some handy twine, creates a very passable facsimile, which did the trick! )
The guys at Nongsa Point had us cleared out in around 40 min, it took longer to fill our fuel tanks. Lovely spot, well-maintained marina with 32Amp power, clean waters, nice pool, good bar and restaurant, good fuel prices and helpful staff. The perfect antidote to the boring slog up from Bali.
Visited Nongsa Point on 2-July-2016 and they were very accommodating. Contacted Prakesh in advance and he was very responsive and helpful in providing forms and information. Hello,
Nongsa Point Marina was the right place for us to clear out of Indonesia. We did not want to bother with all the formalities and were worried about the re-export of the yacht. By paying a fee to Nongsa Point Marina, they take care of all of this within a day.
Very relaxing. They have half day car & driver arrangements, this was enough time for us to do our provisioning and finding spare parts in town.
If you like to do the clearance by yourself without the help of the marina, it may be better to go somewhere closer to the offices. Nongsa Point is rather far away from them.
PS: we had a PIB from Tual, which was not a problem.
