Description:

Lying 72 kms (45 miles) north of the mainland, in the area known as the German Bight, Helgoland consists of two islands. It is a tax-free region and also, due to its clean air and mild climate, a health and holiday resort.  Cars are not normally allowed on the island. The first one was a police car in January 2006.

    The fuel in Helgoland is tax-free indeed. The diesel is the white diesel. In June 2013 we bought diesel for 1.02€ a litre, at the same time on the mainland Germany the price was 1.85€ a litre. Latest prices can be found from the shop’s website: http://www.rickmers-online.de/Tanken.html
