Kourou lies about 20nm north-west of Cayenne

The entrance channel is shallow but well buoyed. Recommended to enter at high water, slack tide. Be aware of the current that will set you to port (west) at the entrance of the river when you leave.

Position:

5° 09’N, 52° 37’30″W (river entrance).

    No formalities required. We asked the customs and they said they did not expect us to check in. Same with immigration. They just don’t care. We anchored to the north of the Yatcht Club. Holding was good. We left the dingy at the Yacht Club’s pontoon, the security guy was ok with it.

    Reserve well in advance if you want to visit the Space Center (you can’t miss it).

    Provisioning is okaish, fruits and veggies at the farmer’s market are very expensive (especially after you get used to Brazilian prices).
