San Sebastian de La Gomera - General Info
Where is La Gomera and San Sebastian?
La Gomera is the second smallest island in the Canary Island group and like its neighbors is volcanic and mountainous in nature. It is a quiet, untouched island, originally populated by Berbers from the mountains of NW Africa.
San Sebastian is the capital and main harbor of La Gomera, located on the east coast. It is a busy little town popular with tourists from Tenerife. The harbor and marina are protected by a long SW facing breakwater with the marina tucked up inside against the cliffs at the far end.
San Sebastian Cruiser Highlights
Friendly marina with good shelter and town center location; reasonable prices; ferries to Tenerife, La Palma, and El Hierro; boatyard; most repairs possible; limited marine supplies.
Entrance Notes or Cautions
- There is no anchoring permitted in the harbor.
- It is highly recommended to reserve docking at the marina through their Booking Inquiry form or by calling 922 141 769 (11:00 till 15:30).
- Take care as you are likely to experience very strong winds as you approach the island of La Gomera. The marina is also exposed to the SW and can be uncomfortable in gales.
- Before entering the port you must call Traffic Control on VHF Ch. 16/12 and request permission to enter.
- When entering and exiting the harbor, keep to the port side and motor between the yellow buoys parallel to the beach. This is to leave space for the ferries to enter and depart from the dock. This channel is not immediately obvious on entry.
- Call the marina on VHF Ch. 09 before entering.
Position:
28° 04’56″N, 17° 06’39″W (harbour breakwater)

YachtFlags.com provides high quality courtesy flags that are manufactured in durable Knitted Polyester fabric. Knitted so that the fabric itself does not deteriorate in the constant movement that marine flags are usually exposed to, and polyester so that the flag does not weaken in the strong UV-light usually found in the main sailing areas of the world.

Very nice marina in the center of the small city of San Sebastian. We paid 27,8€ per day for 15 days with a 5% discount for 55,93m2 for all taxes included.
If you want to go for anchorage for 1 or 2 days they will add these extra days for free.
Before entering the marina you must call the Traffic Control at channel 12 or 16 and ask permission to go in and after you follow the yellow buoys.
The WIFI is not great but you have good ones outside the closer bars and restaurants.
Lovely marina, exceptionally friendly staff. During high season around November advance reservation especially for yachts larger than 10m is highly recommended. And for Catamarans even more, as space is limited.
My recommendation for any yacht and boat works is Darrin Lee. Heś originally from UK so English is not a problem at all and he knows a lot.

Wifi doesn’t work great so it’s free.
The marina changed recently their discount/rebate system: 5% for one week is no more.
5% for 2 weeks (instead of 10%). 10% for a month (instead of 15%). And so on.
That’s too bad.
Still, my favourite marina in the Canarias though.
