YANGON TO MANILA BAY: A NEW CRUISING PLAYGROUND
Published 20 years ago, updated 6 years ago
A nautical symposium is taking place at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Kuala Lumpur, from 26 to 27 May 2005.
The symposium is named YANGON TO MANILA BAY: A NEW CRUISING PLAYGROUND, after the arc of water around Malaysia and surrounding countries. A key objective of the symposium is to discuss and promote the development of the region as a cruising playground for recreational boating. The symposium is the brainchild of Tengku Abdullah, Commodore of the Royal Langkawi Yacht Club and Chairman of the Melewar Group of Companies. A number of sponsors have come forward, enabling the delegate fee to be priced at an affordable USD100.
This symposium is a continuation of an on-going effort by Malaysia to promote boating and nautical tourism in the region. This is a commendable effort in self-help that deserves the support of all stakeholders in the leisure marine industry, including boating businesses and regulating agencies.
