Tonga: Clearance Process now requires Advance Notice of Arrival
As of April 2019, Tonga has changed their clearance process. The Head of Tonga Customs has confirmed that all visiting yachts must submit an advance notice of arrival prior to landing in Tonga.

Prior to Arrival:
All vessels heading to Tonga must complete the Tonga Customs Advance Notice of Arrival (small craft) form.
The form can be submitted by fax or email at least 24 hours in advance of arrival in Tonga. If this is not possible, a phone call to explain your circumstances is required.

This new process is strictly enforced.
On Arrival in Tongan Waters:
Skippers must also contact Maritime Radio on VHF Channel 16 prior to arrival in the selected port of entry, to update Customs on your estimated time of arrival.
