The search for the 42ft yacht the Blessed Be, missing since August 23 on a journey between Noumea and the coast of Australia, has been suspended. However, relatives are asking for all to report sightings of debris along the coastline.
Bruce Glasson, 58, and Graeme Woodhouse, 60, last made contact with their families on August 23 in the final stages of a trip from Fiji. They reported they were in a storm off the coast of Queensland Australia and deploying two sea anchors to slow them down as they ran with the storm. The pair have many years of sailing experience, are aware of the risks involved and have all the correct safety equipment aboard.
Blessed Be was equipped with a satellite phone, a life raft and a 406 Epirb which was not activated, and they had not answered calls on Channel 16. The search was started after worried family members contacted AMSA.
Friends of the family ask; “If anyone is sailing the passage from Noumea to Australia, could they please report any sightings of this vessel or any debris to give the family some finalisation”.
The Blessed Be is a 42 ft yacht white hull with a light blue wide stripe below deckline and blue covers.
