Ocean Cruising Club Announces Awards for 2020

Despite a pandemic raging throughout 2020, the Ocean Cruising Club (OCC) Awards Subcommittee has found numerous achievements to recognize in the cruising world.

Nominations are made by Full Members of the OCC with the winners selected by an experienced team of bluewater cruisers and approved by the OCC General Committee. 

Awards include:

The OCC Barton Cup – the Club’s premier award which salutes an exceptional or challenging voyage or series of voyages.

The OCC Award – which has two components;  one rewards members who contribute valuable services to the OCC and the other for anyone who contributes extraordinary service to the cruising community at large.

The OCC Seamanship Award

The OCC Lifetime Cruising Award

The Vasey Vase – which recognises “an unusual or exploratory voyage made by an OCC member or members”.

The OCC Jester Award – named after Blondie Hasler’s iconic Folkboat Jester, recognises a noteworthy singlehanded voyage or series of voyages made in a small vessel.

OCC Port Officer Service Award

OCC David Wallis Trophy – recognises an outstanding contribution to the OCC Club journal.
