The Niue Yacht Club, which has faced a number of challenges as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, has succesfully re-opened 20 moorings for visiting yachts this season and launched an online booking system.

The new pre-booking system for Niue mooring buoys will provide visiting yachts with more certainty of a mooring being available. There are, after all, only 20 moorings and no possibility of anchoring at this isolated Pacific island.

The new online pre-booking system also has a number of forms that can be completed prior to arrival, with essential documents sent electronically and online payment for the mooring booked.

“This should expedite arrival procedures here”, says Keith Vial – acting Commodore of the Niue Yacht Club, “but please bear with us while we implement the new system.”

Each mooring has its own number and co-ordinates for the mooring reserved will be provided on booking.

All moorings have been inspected and serviced to ensure safe anchorage is available for visiting yachts.

This a completely new system for the island, so there may be a few teething problems this season.  Yacht skippers are asked to be patient and try to comply with the requested information and requirement to book a mooring in advance.

The new mooring booking system, and upgraded shower block, has been funded thanks to New Zealand Aid, through their contribution to the Niue Tourism Office and the Niue Government.

Note:  World ARC Pacific 2023 will visit Niue from July 5-11. Mooring availability will be extremely limited during this time.
