Atlantic Hurricanes 2020: Iota Left Devastation in Central America
Hurricane Iota, which made landfall in Nicaragua one week ago, was the most recent-known Atlantic hurricane to reach Category 5 intensity, and only the second Category 5 Atlantic hurricane on record to develop within the month of November (the other being the 1932 Cuba hurricane).

Close on the heels of Hurricane Eta, Iota made landfall only 15 miles from where Hurricane Eta made landfall just 13 days previously.
The sustained winds of two powerful Cat 4 Hurricanes, torrential rain, flooding and mudslides, has left utter devastation in Central America (particularly Nicaragua and Honduras) over the last two weeks, with a large loss of life, many missing and thousands displaced from their homes.
Hurricane Eta and Hurricane Iota, combined with the Coronavirus Pandemic, mean the communities are desperate for support.
YachtAid Global has launched “Operation Jade”, to assist the countries and communities in Central America so badly affected.
If you know of yachts in the area that can help mobilise cargo, and assist with supplies – contact YachtAid Global via their Yacht Transport Page [http://yachtaidglobal.org/transport].
