Visiting yachts are welcome at the club and can take out temporary membership. Facilities include a bar, restaurant, internet, book club. Some small repairs are possible in the club’s workshop.
The Yacht Club maintains visitor moorings very close to the western end of Muelle Bay, next to the town. If you don’t want to use a visitor mooring, safe anchorage can be found at Boquete Bay or Dalaruan Bay, but please take great care when anchoring so as not to disturb the protected corals and the indigenous giant clams.
Natural Typhoon Shelter. Contact the yacht club for southern Philippines cruising advice.
The Puerto Galera Yacht Club hosts two significant regattas annually: Easter Regatta, the longest-running event in the Philippines, and All Souls Regatta, coinciding with the All Saints/Souls Holiday. IRC Racers, Racer-Cruiser, Cruiser, and Multihull classes are all welcome in these events. The three-day regattas, starting from Muelle Bay and ending at Haligi Beach, feature daily races visiting various islands and beaches along the Verde Island Passage.
As part of its advocacy, the Yacht Club established a sailing school in 2003, providing free lessons to local children, with many graduates earning international trophies and pursuing careers on yachts worldwide.

I had paid the PGYC more than 10,000 au$ for my mooring fee’s over the few years I was using them. I was fully paid up with no over due payment. However the PGYC decided without informing me – that they would move my yacht to another mooring 2 km away … they didn’t secure my New mooring lines (I purchased from PGYC) correctly. Only attaching my mooring lines through the 8mm Stainless U bar protuding thrugh the top of the Mooring buoy instead of attaching to the 12mm chain below the mooring bouy. The next low pressure system (not even a cat 1 typhoon) broke the mooring and my Yacht ended up dragging across a reef and luckly didn’t sink, however it did sustain considerable damage . When I asked the PGYC who can I talk to about the repair cost to my yacht – I was continually met with silence . When I complained to other sailors in Puerto Galera about the treatment I was being given after the PGYC moved my boat without my permission and didn’t secure it correctly to the mooring and in doing so, did damage to my yacht, the news got back to the yacht club and I was told I shouldn’t say anything , They PGYC then handed me a bill for another 11,000- peso or over $300AU for the mooring fees of that same month that their mooring had broken and sent my yacht into and over coral reef. BTW that mooring is 2 km away from the yacht club with No service , no water, no electric, and almost zero chance of getting the yacht club service boat to pick you up- meaning that ALL you get is a mooring that hasn’t been looked after and is unsafe even for a local thunderstorm (let alone cat. 1,2,3,4,or5 Typhoons which regularly go overhead) I was a fully paid up member at the time of all this. Any sailors that use the PGYC mooring are better of at anchor and save the 300 Aus or US$ 200 per month .
