Ditto to all the positive comments already mentioned. We stayed there in early 2019 and loved every minute. The two infinity pools provide a wonderful experience and view. The Marina Manager, Gavi, is among the best we have met and his team works very hard to make your stay a pleasant one.

Let me add, that the Marina Staff is not only polite and extremely helpful under dockmaster Gavi Roustand. The port officials – immigration, customs and navy are also always helpful. We strongly recommend the trip to the National Park. You need a permit to go there which gives you the navy in the marina. No extra fees. you will be allowed to anchor 2 nights in Bahia San Lorenzo.
Of course there are many sailors here, who have seen more places than me. But for me, in my limited experience, this was the most beautiful place I have been to!

We had the same outstanding experience at the Puerto Bahia marina in Samana. It is one of the nicest marinas I have ever visited worldwide!
Arriving from PR (and earlier this year from Sint Maarten and St Lucia) in mid March to a truly safe haven there. The marina management and the DR officials couldn’t be more helpful welcoming us and about 20 other vessels. Wish we could stay there at the “locked in paradise” as we called the WhatsApp group created. Unfortunately, due to commitments in the US we had to leave in late March and sail straight to Florida with a very poor experience in the Bahamas, Long Island. The Bahamian authorities denied even refueling and essential supplies.
Again, Marina Puerto Bahia in Samana, the DR should not be missed by any cruiser to and from the Caribbean! The only “risk” is that you may just want to stay there forever… 🙂

We were ‘trapped’ there during the COVID-19 pandemics. We docked there just a few days before DR banned any foreigner from arriving or even stopping. Marina personnel could not be more helpful and nice . From the time DR instituted travel ban we were given 30% discount on dockage fees. Additionally we got help from them to get provision specially delivered to their mini-market. This marina is a part of a hotel and resort which contain 3 restaurants. They have great food and very nice and experienced personnel there. As a great bonus the location is great with easy access to many places to visit around there. Real ‘Paradise’!
