A protected, full-service marina in the inner harbour. 24hr security. Fuel dock and chandlery. A weekly visit from the propane truck will fill tanks. The marina also administers 30 swinging moorings in the outer bay. Launderette, supermarket, hardware store, dive shop, restaurants and bars are all close by.

This marina is regarded as a ‘hurricane hole’.

The boatyard here is called Marina Seca (see boatyards for more details) and is the largest in San Carlos.

San Carlos Marina Stay 2019,2020,2021. Both sets of bathrooms have poor Conditions, No dock carts, no pump-out services. In laundry facilities, your clothing comes out smelling of mold, much better going to the hotel and paying. A strong clique of long-term liveaboards. Trying to follow the rules is like learning Latin it changes at the whim of what management wants to enforce.

Marina is going out and removing mooring balls to get boats to move into the docks yet trying to get a slip they say they are full. Absentee American owners who come around a few times a year. The bay is not part of the Marina so they are pushing their authority as I see it. It’s the Port Captian who has that authority last time I looked. Marina security boat makes a run through the mooring field which is one way nice yet they do it on purpose to cause massive wakes at times. Party boats do come out to the bay and anchor playing loud distorted music. Marina itself is the same way. If you like your sleep this is not the place. Marina Management would rather argue with you than help in my experience. Few others have had similar problems yet others love it all. So you decide.

Over at the Marina Seca, Omar and Fransisco are great more than happy to help you and make arrangements for haul out and splash services. You are able to perform all your own work in the work yard. The storage yard is separate which is great to see as owners are not allowed to work on their boats. Only load and offload your boat items. Hats off to Fransisco and Omar for great customer service.

The town of San Carlos is nice. You are able to get food drinks and some great places to eat. Have to rent a car, get a ride, or take a bus over to Guaymas to get any real boat items.

For me, I will do my best to try other Places or make the long trip to Puerto Penasco and get hauled out there in the future if staying in the Sea of Cortez.
