South Island sailor Viki Moore purchased Island Cruising NZ in June 2021. Viki has been President of the Little Ship Club of Canterbury since 2014, started the Facebook group Women Who Sail New Zealand and is a Director of Yachting New Zealand. Viki is also the Regional Rear Commodore – South Pacific & New Zealand for the Ocean Cruising Club.

Island Cruising has been around since the 1980’s. Over the years Island Cruising has helped to facilitate hundreds of New Zealanders on offshore voyages and has successfully attracted numerous international cruisers to come to New Zealand.

Island Cruising NZ provide yacht cruising rallies around the islands of the South Pacific. These rallies are designed to allow sailors to cruise the islands aboard their own boats, or assist as crew on someone else’s boat. They provide assistance with customs, immigration and biosecurity in and out of each country, arrange social events at various points along the way and arrange clearances into places such the Lau group of Fiji and the Loyalty Islands of New Caledonia. They also hold educational seminars to help sailors understand how to prepare their vessels for sailing offshore and get the most out of cruising in the Islands.

International vessels are very welcome at the rallies. An approximate schedule of rallies is as follows:

• October: Sail To New Zealand Rally
  This one is for vessels in the Pacific who want to join on the last leg of the Pacific Rally to Sail to NZ. Various departures from Tonga, Fiji, Vanuatu, and New Caledonia near the end of October (or at your convenience) headed towards Northland New Zealand.
• December: South Island Rally
  From the North Island to Abel Tasman, Marlborough, Fiordland, Stewart Island, Dunedin, Akaroa & Lyttelton.
• May: Pacific Circuit Rally
  NZ to Minerva Reef, Tonga, Fiji, Vanuatu & New Caledonia, and then either back to New Zealand or continue on to Australia.
