Lying 1.2 miles upstream of the large suspension bridge, this is the first place in Lisbon itself to clear in. The basin has been dredged to a depth of 7.2 metres and can receive even the largest yachts. All offices (port captain, customs and Guarda Nacional Republicana) are located nearby.

The swing bridge opens every half hour from Mon-Fri and is left open during weekends, except if there’s a cruise ship moored at the adjacent quay. In this case, it is necessary to request passage by calling the bridge operator on VHF channel 68. The entrance is well hidden behind a commercial wharf and can be difficult to locate.

Not particularly attractive surroundings and water can be oily, but ideal if wanting to explore the city as just a 10-minute walk to the tram for the city centre. Offers excellent protection.

11 Oct 2019- berthed late evening in Alcantara marina in perhaps the only available alongside €37 for a 12-15m yacht. Found a very unfriendly reception, poor facilities in need of repair and a constant drone from bridge traffic and aircraft noise. Staff suggested that all berths were taken by locals, though there were evidently a couple of other visiting yachts. Found very limited provisioning options other than the downtown market hall about 2.5 Km cycle ride away (nearest supermarket closed for a refit and a paucity of convenient alternatives).

Moved to the Seixel anchorage as soon as possible. Mostly quiet here and in easy reach of central Lisbon by ferry – one quiet night and then sadly a DJ concert on the harbourside the following night, at about 95 Dbs for several hours. On the plus side, a Leclerc hypermarket very accessible by dinghy about 1 Mile across the lagoon with easy landing on the beach above half tide.
