Tortola, Road Harbour – Hodges Creek Marina Update
Published 14 years ago, updated 6 years ago
I would just like to give some updated information regarding Hodges Creek Marina on Tortola. We have had the dubious pleasure of staying here as we were picking up a boat here for delivery to Australia.
The marina is very run down and has no facilities except for showers and a pool. Apparently, Sunsail pulled out of this marina a couple of years ago to amalgamate their base with The Moorings. Since then the place has gone downhill.
There was no supermarket, internet, restaurant or any other facilities operational at the time we stayed here (Sept 2010).
The place is quite remote. Road Town is approx 15km away and a $3.00 minibus taxi ride which all adds up if you have to go in and out of town for the basics…
Rumour has it that the place is up for sale which explains the lack of interest from the staff… The only redeeming feature is a “Pussers Bar” within walking distance, which helped keep us sane!!
We definitely do not recommend this marina.

UPDATE: We base a sloop in Maya Cove, where Hodges Creek Marina is located. The above comments were accurate at that time as Sunsail had vacated and the place was a ghost town. However, in the last couple of years, four smaller charter companies have taken up residence and the place is returning to life.
The availability of slips is almost non-existent due to the charter companies. The fuel dock is active and the local restaurant, Calamea SP?, is now open as well as Pusser’s, a short dinghy ride or walk from the marina.
The restrooms and showers have been totally renovated and are very nice. A word of caution concerning the marina’s mooring balls as in the past they have been very sketchily maintained. Be advised that with the recent surge of activity, the available space for anchoring has become very limited.
Also, be advised that the cove shallows as you move toward Pusser’s. It is a very well protected cove with no swell and a good breeze, limiting the bug activity. Come see us! George Spettigue
