To renew Timor Leste Visas ( 30 days granted on arrival for many nationalities for 35$ pp)

Required to submit for renewal:

1. Visa Application Form ( Available ONLY at http://migracao.gov.tl/?page_id=119 You can not get the form at the office!) Address- means your local address here…ie SV Brick House in Dili Port

2. Sponsorship form ( http://migracao.gov.tl/?page_id=119 You can not get the form at the office!) This must be signed by a sponsor that is local to Timor Leste. We had an acquaintance do ours and took him to lunch.

3. Color copy of front and back of Sponsors Identity card or passport

4. A Red background ( only) passport size photo of you, glued to Visa Application

5. Color copy of passport identity page

6. Passport itself

7. We submitted copy of Boat registration for good measure since exit ticket was a requirement online…and we don’t have that

8. 35$ for 30-day extension. 75$ for 60-day extension

Office opens at 9 am. At 8 am, nobody, but by 830am there were 4 people in line. They accept incoming applications from 9 am to 1145am weekdays. If you take a microlet towards ‘Timor Plaza’ (ask when you enter) and then watch very carefully for a sharp turn to the right where there is a HUGE sterile looking Cathedral in front of you and then as you turn on your left…this is where you should get off. Then walk about 2-3 blocks until you ALMOST come to a T in the street. On your left-hand side will be a very large important looking building. Just ask anyone in that area where the ‘Kantor Immigrasi’ or Immigration Office is, and they will direct you> Its a modern little white building on the left, same lots as the important looking building. Go through the glass doors.  The office is straight ahead

When we returned at 10 am with correct documentation, there were 30 people ahead of us. 1 hour in line and 5 minutes with the official, we were paid and told to return in 1 week, between 2 and 4 pm to pick up, with our receipt.

Men- Long pants, not shorts, and closed toe shoes for admittance. Ladies- cover thy knees, and wear nice shoes… not flip-flops or such. Sleeveless OK, but nothing low…must be professional.  Many people looked like they were going to church, many looked like they came back from the farm.

You must apply at least 1 week prior to expiration. 2 weeks is what they recommend. It will take exactly 1 week to get your passport/visa back.
