The Grenadines, Mayreau: Aggression towards cruisers ashore at Saline Bay – December 2012
Published 12 years ago, updated 5 years ago
We were anchored with 2 boats in Saline Bay on Mayreau over Christmas.
In the evening we went ashore to have dinner and drink some Rum punches.
When we went back to the dinghy, around midnight, we were approached by 4 men. They told us we stole their cellphone and were very aggressive. It was a near fight. When we were back in the dinghy, we saw a cellphone on the ground that started to ring. We think they threw the cellphone on the ground to prove we stole it.
We went back to our boats and left immediately for Union Island. Not a very good option as we had drunk some punches and night sailing can be dangerous.
