St Vincent, Blue Lagoon: Dinghy Accesories Stolen – April 2015
Published 10 years ago, updated 5 years ago
During the night of April 12, 2015, we were on a mooring close to the marina and dinghy was locked off our stern – in the water.
We may have heard a motor running slowly, but it did not appear to stop by us. However, we discovered in the morning that our new fuel tank, hose, filter, etc. from inside the dinghy, had been stolen.
The outboard motor was locked to the dinghy and the dinghy locked to the boat, but the fuel tank was just held under the seat by lines.
We were not aware of any other thefts that night. Since the police station was far away we did not go to them, but we reported the incident to the marina.

Dinghy thieves operate throughout the Caribbean and the best advice is to place your dinghy on deck and chain it overnight. Remove all valuables from the dinghy and deck and secure them down below. Be sure to secure all hatches whilst asleep at night and when leaving the boat to go ashore.
