EVENT: Burglary

STOLEN ITEMS: Electronics and watches
SECURED: Locked
DETAILS:
Transiting from Barbados, a yacht arrived in Bequia at 1600HRS and anchored and secured their monohull about 300meters offshore between South and Princess Margaret beach. The family went ashore to complete checkin formalities. When they returned just after dark at 1900HRS they found a kayak tied to the stern, which they removed as they stood off. Two (2) men emerged from the forward hatch, (which was the apparent point of ingress) ran down the side and jumped overboard. The owner retrieved some floating items (drone) from the water that had been tossed overboard during the escape. The owner boarded and conducted a thorough search of the yacht and the kayak and then boarded the family. In their haste to depart the thieves left behind their own personal belongings – including a phone, ID, and two (2) 6-8 inch knives . High value items that had been well hidden inside the boat were missing and not recovered.
A police report was made. The police visited the boat, collected the left behind articles but collected no other forensics. They indicated that the two men were known to them.
Currently, the owner is not aware of any formal charges being laid against the men, or if they are in custody. As updates from officials are received by the victims, CSSN will update this ALERT!.

The November Noonsite email says these were “armed robberies” in Bequia. However, we were there during this time, and at least 3 of the boats that had items stolen – the people were on shore and not on their boats. So, I am not sure where the “armed robbery” comes from…And the person that is responsible for the stolen items was found.
