My name is Kirsten Robinson with S/V Lucile, a Nordic 44ft sailboat, spending the summer in Majuro, Marshall Islands.
We would like to let the Noonsite community know about an attempted theft that took place on our boat in the early morning of Sunday, August 18th, 2019.
We are currently on a mooring in the south mooring field, behind the Mobile fuel tanks and have been on this mooring since our arrival in February 2019.
Around 3am on Sunday morning a single young male boarded our boat, while we were aboard. I was in the quarter berth and saw the man come down the companionway and head for the Nav Station. I confronted the man and started yelling. My husband awoke and started yelling too.
The man then ran out of the cabin and jumped over the side.
We believe he was by himself, swam to the boat and climbed aboard via the monitor windvane as the dingy was out of the water.
He would have taken the Ipad and a pair of fins in the cockpit had I not been awake. Very unsettling as our experience in the Marshall Islands has been super. The people are lovely and it’s a good place to conduct repairs.
Mahalo,
Kirsten Robinson
S/V Lucile
