Jost van Dyke Update
Published 13 years ago, updated 6 years ago
Moorings now cover much of Great Bay and you might be advised to use them as the holding elsewhere is very uncertain. Claw/scoop anchors such as Bruce, Rockna, Manson perform especially badly catching the many loose boulders. Plows are better. Space restrictions could have you anchoring very far out.
Green Cay at the East of the islands also has moorings, but there is great holding inside them with a very short dinghy ride to the dock. If you want to go hiking, snorkeling etc., this might be a better option but still don’t miss Great Harbour, Foxy’s and the Wooden Boatbuilding project.
Foxy runs a Wooden Boat regatta every May.
