Guadeloupe, Sainte-Anne: Break-in and attempted robbery during daylight – November 2013
Published 11 years ago, updated 6 years ago
Incident Date 10/11/2013
St Anne Guadeloupe
Boat name Ellisa
The boat was boarded by 5 lads who swam out to it in broad daylight about 2 pm – moored approx 500 meters offshore.
They entered the locked cabin and took electronic gadgets up to the cockpit.
Fortunately, we saw them heading out there from the beach (where we were sitting) so arrived in dinghy and 4 jumped off bathing platform whilst 5th came up from below.
Due to hasty retreat, they dropped items in the cockpit so nothing lost.
Reported it to the local security who were on the beach, but they did not want to get involved as we were offshore.
As nothing lost no need to go to the police but thought other cruisers should be aware.
Not sure what would have happened if we had not been sitting on the beach!
