Endau River, Pahang – Dangerous Wash at Marina
Published 13 years ago, updated 6 years ago
I wish to warn yacht owners of a problem with the small government marina in the Endau River, Pahang, Malaysia. Yachts arrive here to use the slipping facilities at Prospect Dockyard.
It is advisable to anchor off the slipway rather than go into the marina upstream near the bridge, whilst waiting to be slipped. The wash from large fast moving, loaded fishing boats causes a wash which has resulted in damage to boats. Three or four of the pontoons are also damaged and unstable.
I was informed by the Harbour Master that there is a speed limit in the river, but fishing boat skippers disregard all requests that the Harbour Master has sent to moderate their speed. I was also informed by the Harbour Master that the skippers of these boats do not have any qualifications, and it seems very few maritime skills.
May I suggest that you publish this notice to save others sustaining damage to their boats.
Thank you.
