Clearance in Kingston
Published 13 years ago, updated 6 years ago
We sailed to the Royal Jamaican Yacht Club in Kingston Jamaica in mid-April 2012 and would like to add some comments.
We were informed by the officials that there are no overtime fees charged to cruisers during the normal hours, and that being from 8 am to 11 pm local time. Customs officials came to our boat at 8 pm and confirmed that they work until 11 pm, 6 days a week.
Also, we could not have been more welcomed by the folk of the yacht club…Upon our arrival, they called customs and immigration for us. They had no space for us when we arrived so docked us at the fuel dock for the 1st night and the next morning they started to move boats and raft up several together to make room for us.
The area is very secure although the local yachtsmen suggest not to anchor out in front of the yacht club for fear of robbery while away from the boat.
